Mekong Charm
Is the Mekong Delta suitable for a day trip with a toddler?
Yes, if the day is short on transfers and has a real rest. Our Ben Tre day keeps to about two hours on the road each way and builds in a long midday stop at a garden house. Car seats must be requested in advance; the page on travelling with young children explains the 2026 rule.
Do we have to get up before dawn?
No. Pick-up is normally 08:00. The only exception is the Can Tho floating market, where activity is greatest in the first hours after sunrise. We offer an early and a later version and describe honestly what each one shows.
Are the trips private?
Yes. Each trip is for your party only, with its own car, driver and English-speaking guide, so the pace can follow the slowest walker or the youngest sleeper.
Why do the tour pages not show a price?
Because the price depends mostly on the size of your party and the vehicle it needs. We quote the whole trip for your group after you send the form; the pricing page lists what moves the figure.

Tours
Can we combine two of the trips?
Yes. Cai Be with An Binh, then Can Tho, makes a three-day trip with two hotel nights and no single drive longer than the one out of Ho Chi Minh City. We quote it as one trip.
Can a trip start in Can Tho instead of Ho Chi Minh City?
Yes. If you are already in Can Tho, the Can Tho trip shortens to its own city programme and the long drives disappear. We price it from your hotel.
Do you run shared group departures?
No. Every trip is private for one party. That is what lets us keep the pace gentle and change the plan on the day.
How many people can travel together?
Most of our trips are for two to six people. We plan for up to about ten in one party with a larger vehicle; beyond that the pace gets hard to keep and we will say so.

Ben Tre orchards and coconut day
Can we skip the boat completely?
Yes. Choose the road-only option, or decide on the day. The sampan loop is the only boat on this trip, and the rest of the day works without it.
How old does a child need to be for the sampan?
There is no fixed age, but the child must wear a life jacket that fits. We ask the boat operator in advance for a child size; if one cannot be confirmed, we leave the sampan out for that child and say so before you travel.
Is there a toilet on the boat?
No. Small rowed sampans have no toilet, which is one reason the loop is kept to 20 or 30 minutes. There are toilets at the landing, the workshop, the orchard and the lunch house.
What if it rains?
Rain in the delta usually comes as a heavy shower rather than a wet day. We carry umbrellas and ponchos, move the orchard walk around the shower, and drop the sampan if the rower advises it.

Cai Be and An Binh, 2 days
Why not stay in a homestay on An Binh?
Many travellers enjoy it, and An Binh has many family homestays. Our trips are for people who prefer a hotel room with its own bathroom and, sometimes, a lift. If a homestay is what you want, this is not the right trip for you.
Can my father, who uses a cane, visit the old houses?
Usually yes, with an arm at the thresholds and a chair when he wants one. Tell us in the form and we will describe each house's entrance before you book.
Is there a lift at the hotel?
It depends on the hotel available on your date. When you choose the ground-floor-or-lift option, we only confirm a hotel that meets it, and the quote says which applies.
Can we see the Cai Be floating market on the way?
We can look from the riverbank, but the market is much smaller than it was. We would rather spend that hour in the garden houses, and we say so on the quote.

Can Tho in 2 days
Is the early market boat worth it with children?
If your children wake early anyway, often yes: the river is cool, the boats are busiest and the noodle breakfast is a treat. If an early start would ruin the rest of the day, take the later boat and accept a quieter market.
Can we fly to Can Tho instead of driving?
Can Tho's airport, about 9 km from the centre, listed only domestic routes when we checked, and routes change. From Ho Chi Minh City the road is the practical way. If you arrive from elsewhere in Vietnam, we can start the trip at the airport.
Are the boats safe for older travellers?
We use a covered boat with seats and life jackets, board once and stay aboard. The wharf step is the hardest part; your guide and the boat crew hold an arm on the way down and up.
Can we add a second night?
Yes. A second night in Can Tho lets day 2 be the market and a long rest, with the drive on day 3; or a night in Vinh Long on the way out splits the road time in half.

Market and garden kitchen day
How young can children join in?
Children from about four usually enjoy washing herbs, folding and wrapping. Under that age they watch and eat. Knives and hot oil stay with the cook and the adults.
Can the menu be vegetarian?
Yes. Choose the vegetarian option and the cook plans pancakes, soup and a vegetable dish without meat or fish. Tell us whether fish sauce is acceptable.
Do we need to be at the market at dawn?
No. We arrive mid-morning. The stalls are still full, the crowds are thinner and nobody needs a 5 am alarm.
Is there a boat on this day?
Only if you want one. Thoi Son is reached by road from the Rach Mieu bridge; the 20-minute sampan loop after lunch is optional.

Prices
Why is your quote higher than a tour I found for the same route?
Usually because ours is private, starts at 08:00, includes a long rest and avoids commission stops. Compare the vehicle, the number of boat transfers, the pick-up time and whether child seats are listed. If the other trip suits you, it is a fair choice.
Do children pay less?
On a private trip most costs are shared, so a child changes the price mainly through meals, entrances and sometimes the size of the vehicle. The quote shows it.
Which currency do you quote in?
We quote in US dollars. Small costs on the ground are paid in Vietnamese dong by your guide and are already inside the quote.
Is the quote fixed once confirmed?
Yes, for the trip as confirmed in writing. If you change the date, the party size or the hotel, we re-price it in full and show you the difference.

How to book
How far ahead should we book?
For a day trip, a couple of weeks is usually enough outside holiday periods. For a two-day trip around the Lunar New Year, or if you need a lift or several child seats, book as early as you can.
Can we book for tomorrow?
Sometimes. Send the form and say so; we will tell you what is still possible, which may be the trip without child seats or without a particular hotel.
Do you take bookings by phone?
No. We work by form and email so that every detail, from car seats to the lunch menu, is written down.
What happens if our flight is delayed and we miss the day?
Tell us as soon as you know. We will try to move the trip; what can be refunded depends on the terms in your written confirmation.

Destinations
Why don't you go to Chau Doc or Tra Su?
They are four and a half hours or more from Ho Chi Minh City by road, which does not fit trips of one to three days at our pace.
Is Ben Tre still a province?
Not since the 2025 merger; it is now part of Vinh Long province. Ben Tre remains the name of the town and the name everyone uses for the area.
Which place is quietest?
None is empty. An Binh islet on a weekday morning outside the holidays is usually the calmest of the three.
Which is easiest with a wheelchair?
None of the three is fully step-free. Tell us your needs and we will describe each stop honestly, including where we do not know.

Ben Tre
Is Ben Tre the same as My Tho?
No. My Tho is the town on the north bank of the Tien River, now in Dong Thap province; Ben Tre is across the river, now part of Vinh Long province. Most day trips touch both, using the Rach Mieu bridges.
Do we still need a ferry to reach Ben Tre?
No. The second Rach Mieu bridge opened in August 2025 and the temporary ferry stopped. The crossing is now by road.
Is Ben Tre good for young children?
It is the easiest of the three areas we use: the shortest drive, flat paths and plenty of shade. The boat is optional, and the candy workshop holds most children's attention.
Can we buy coconut candy to take home?
Yes, at the workshops. It is made from coconut milk, malt, coconut flesh and sugar; check your home country's food import rules before packing it.

Cai Be and An Binh
Is the Cai Be floating market still worth seeing?
Only as a glimpse. It still exists but has weakened sharply in recent years. We would rather spend the morning in the old houses.
Do we have to cross a monkey bridge on An Binh?
No. Some orchards keep one as a photo stop over a ditch. It is never required, and we check the way round before your trip.
Can we stay on An Binh instead of in Vinh Long?
Many visitors do, in family homestays. Our trips use a hotel in Vinh Long for private bathrooms and, where needed, lifts. If a homestay is what you want, a homestay specialist is a better choice.
Is Cai Be in Vinh Long province?
No. Since the 2025 merger Cai Be is part of Dong Thap province. An Binh and Vinh Long town are in Vinh Long province.

Can Tho
Is the Cai Rang floating market still worth it?
Yes, with the right expectation. It is the main market still trading on the water, but much smaller than at its peak and partly touristic. Go early if you can; activity thins after about 08:00.
What time does the market start?
Published guides put the busiest period at about 06:00 to 07:30, with activity dropping after 08:00 to 08:30. From the city wharf the boat takes 30 to 40 minutes.
How far is Can Tho from Ho Chi Minh City?
About 171 km by road, three to three and a half hours by car, about four by public bus.
Is Can Tho suitable for older travellers?
Yes, with a hotel that has a lift and a covered boat with seats. The wharf steps are the hardest part; the guide and crew help on and off.

With young children
Do hired cars in Vietnam have child seats?
Not always. Since 1 January 2026 children under 10 or below 1.35 m must use a suitable safety device and may not sit in the driver's row. We request seats for your date and confirm in writing which were secured; if one is not available, you can bring your own.
Is the Mekong Delta safe for toddlers?
With sensible planning, yes. The main risks are heat, mosquitoes, water and long drives. Our trips keep the drives short, the boats optional, and the middle of the day in the shade.
What age is the floating market suitable for?
Any age, if the child can manage an early start or you choose the later boat. Children must wear a fitting life jacket; small boats have no toilet.
Should we bring a stroller?
We suggest a carrier instead. Garden lanes, boat landings and old-house thresholds are hard going for strollers.

With older parents
Can my mother, who uses a walker, join the Cai Be trip?
Often yes, with the walker left in the car at the old houses and an arm at the thresholds. Tell us how far she walks; we will describe each stop before you book.
Are there lifts in delta hotels?
Some hotels have them, many small ones do not. Choose the lift-or-ground-floor option and we only confirm a hotel that meets it.
Do we have to cross a monkey bridge?
No, never. Some orchards keep one as a photo stop; there is always another way round, and we check it before your trip.
What if my father gets tired half-way through the day?
The trip is private, so we stop. The car and guide stay with you; we cut a stop or return early, and nothing else is affected.

When to go
What is the most comfortable month for the Mekong Delta?
December to February: the lowest temperatures of the year, around 30 °C in the afternoon, and very little rain.
When is fruit season?
Roughly May to August, with rambutan, durian and longan in the orchards. Some gardens have fruit all year.
Is the rainy season a bad time to go?
Not for a short trip. Most rain falls as afternoon showers. September is the wettest month and needs the most flexibility.
Should we avoid the flood season?
Not necessarily. In the lower delta it mostly means high tides that can flood riverside streets for a few hours. We plan around the tide times.

About us
Are you a tour operator or an agency?
We plan and arrange the trips ourselves, using local car companies, boat operators, garden families and hotels, which we name on your quote.
Do your guides speak English?
Yes. Every trip includes an English-speaking guide for its whole length.
Why don't you publish reviews?
Because you cannot check reviews that a company chooses for its own site. We publish the details instead: drive times, boardings, rest stops, and what is included and what is not.
Can you plan a longer trip around the delta?
Our trips are one to three days. For longer circuits, other specialists will serve you better.

Contact
Is there a phone number or an office to visit?
Not on this site. We work by form and email so that everything about your trip is in writing.
Can I ask a question before choosing a trip?
Yes. Choose "Something gentle, advise me" in the form and write your question in the notes.
Do you reply in languages other than English?
We plan and write in English. Short messages in other languages are welcome; we reply in English.
